I would only note that this is in stark contrast to his approval ratings while actually on the job.  George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton, on the other hand, were both rather popular for the duration of their presidencies.

I second that poll. Carter’s the most moral President the US has had in at least the last hundred and fifty years, and the best post-President I know of.
