I don't know about keeping all Muslims out of the military, though it seems we can confiscate some of their mosques and office buildings.

Infallibility of the Pope? OK, we’re back to square one. If a Catholic politician must ascribe to all of Rome’s decrees, they should not be trusted in secular governance, period.

Can we keep Muslims out of the military?

I understand that their religion makes them be part of a permanent jihad.

My quick search didn't turn up a statement one way or the other on it. But I'm not a google guru so I can't say for sure. In the absence of anything definitive I'll go with what seems logical.

When bars (Bacchus), brothels (Aphrodite and Pan), and tea-houses (Rastafarians and First Nations) have the same tax exemption as other religions, I'll be all on board.

LBJ was one of the first governors to argue that people shouldn't argue politics from the pulpit.

Too many uppity people out there in uppity churches arguing for "equality".

He wanted to nip that in the bud.

He was decades ahead of his time.

The problem is the law hasn't really changed with regard to the legality of disciminating against gay couples. That has been illegal in DC for a long time. It was also illegal to discirminate against gay couples in adoption matters in MA before well before they were finally allowed to marry in 2003. Catholic Charities of Boston had actually placed several children with gay couples (becuase it was against the state's anti-discrimination law to do otherwise) before closing shop after gays were given the right to marry.

It seems the Church has always been OK with abiding by anti-discrimination laws as they relate to gay couples, so long as the state does not call those couples married.

Is that what actually happened?

I know that what happened in theory is that just as many, if not more, children were placed into loving homes where they now get free Romneycare.

What really happened?
