The answer, of course, is to send Bloomberg off to fight the Parthians

The New Yorker’stake on Bloomberg’s plutocratic, all-encompassing nannyism is worth a read. Are the parallels to Marcus Licinius Crassus a harbinger of the coming pink police state?
“Upon his arrival in the Parthian camp he was seized and killed. A story later emerged that after Crassus’ death the Parthians poured molten gold into his mouth as a symbol of his thirst for riches.”

Was Crassus the guy who forced people to work at swordpoint so that they would produce stuff that could then be taxed?
Or was that a different Emperor?

Old school.
Shorter Hertzberg- Bloomberg has done a mostly good job, is popular and has given a slice of has massive fortune to good causes. This is bad.
Really? That’s what you take from the article? Strange.
