come on koz, you think anybody who disagrees with you is low information since you have all the answers. You are far better then us mere mortals.

I love Balloon Juice. The commenters there are AFAIK the largest collection of low-information liberals anywhere on the internet. A mainstream conservative can contribute there and be nearly certain that he's not preaching to the choir.

Like others, I have Balloon Juice on my daily read; I only began reading it this year, so I missed his conversion experience. But I also was a former Republican, and had my own a few years earlier. It is an odd experience to be outside the conservative compound now, looking in and wondering whether the fence moved, or if I did.

I stumbled into Balloon Juice just around the time John Cole was having his 'Road to Damascus' moment, and found it to be the best run blog out there for anyone genuinely interested in American politics. Whatever the topic, it's always guaranteed to be, A) informative (links a'plenty, facts carefully presented, because you won't last a single thread if you haven't done your homework), B) confrontational (you have never seen a troll from the left or the right flayed to the bone so quickly in your life, and it's relentless) , and C) very, very funny. So funny that it has its own Lexicon of Political Terminology.

Come for the politics, stay for the jokes. It's like a therapy group for the terminally smart-arsed.

I'm sure this is a fine interview, but like other forms of media, blogging is much more interesting when not talking about itself. Less naval gazing, please.

Balloon Juice is certainly my favorite blog, and I try to make worthwhile contributions in the comments.

Yes, it's very funny and very profane, but there's also this: more than anywhere else, I've learned about a wide range of issues by reading the BJ comments section. The commenters are very smart and very informed and completely open minded.

Also: bullshit, spin, and partisan hackery do not survive in a BJ comments thread. No matter how inconvenient the truth may be, the truth is valued. It's simply the best commenting community that I'm aware of.

Good call on interviewing John Cole, E.D. He's the guy who initially turned me onto the League, so it's nice to see some blog love thrown his way.
