Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Martyr

Some of the coverage from National Review and The Washington Times really has to be read to be believed. A guy whose career highlights include chaining a pregnant woman to a bed and filing trumped-up charges against a judge is suddenly the victim of “persecution.”

So you are saying that because of what he has done in the past that he can’t be persecuted? What kind of logic is that?

E.D. Kain

I think what Will is saying is that your past deeds, as well as your current level of power, contribute to the legitimacy of the claims of persecution.

Of course, Arpaio deserves all the shit people can shovel on him, so I couldn’t care less if it amounts to persecution or not. The dude is bad news for civil liberties.

Scott

Yes, God forbid Arpaio should be tough on criminals. We really don’t want that.

Scott, are judges, their aides and their personal attorneys criminals?

Scott

They can be. Just because you are a judge doesn’t mean you are honest.

Jaybird

How about Sheriffs?

Scott

Sheriffs can be criminals as well.

E.D. Kain

Quit persecuting Arpaio, Scott.

Scott

Can’t you do any better? I don’t see the need for the DOJ to get involved. I’m sure that DOJ’s involvement is not political at all. I’m sure they will manufacture something if they can’t find anything.

Just like Sheriff Joe.
